LiDAR data

The following file types can be loaded in Purepoint:

  • Packet capture (.pcap) file

  • LidarPod® data (.lpd) file

  • Inertial Navigation System (.ins) file

  • Purepoint play list (.lpl) file

  • Purepoint project (.lvp) file

For more information on loading LiDAR data, see "Load data".

Play list file

You can create play lists in Purepoint by selecting multiple files of the same format, for example, .lpd files.

From these selected files, Purepoint creates a .lpl file that contains a batch of files to be processed sequentially.

A play list allows you to process large amounts of data quickly. Instead of opening files and processing b, all data in the play list is processed as a batch by Purepoint.

Project file

A Purepoint project file is a JSON file that contains all settings and options used to process a .lpd or .pcap file.

This file type does not contain, or record, point-cloud data, but, for example, shows the following:

  • Point size

  • Sections created in the Purepoint project

  • Color settings

  • Project options

For more information on project file settings, see "Settings included in project file".

A new .lvp file is created each time you close Purepoint.

Information

When you close and reopen Purepoint, the last project opened is displayed.

When you select to load a new .lpd file, Purepoint loads a .lvp file with the same name. For example, if you load flight1.lpd, Purepoint loads flight1.lvp.
